social skills… 1) demonstrating good behavior (even in unstructured situations) 2) earning respect & respecting others 3) building friendship skills 4) showing mature, third grade actions 5) responding to negative situations around you 6) taking responsibility for your actions 7) having & using an appropriate sense of humor 8) using good verbal communication skills 9) participating in class discussions 10) being polite
work habits… 1) developing good organizational skills 2) checking work over when finished 3) asking for help when you need it 4) using good listening skills & following directions 5) putting great effort into your work 6) setting goals for yourself, areas that you want to get better at 7) using good time management in long range projects (not procrastinating) 8) putting the effort into making your work neat (not rushing) neatness in math (making numbers the right size, neat, & in the correct column) 9) having pride in your work & accomplishments, seeing change 10) developing good homework habits
learning… 1) developing a curiosity of the world around you 2) making connections between the things you learn and your life outside of school 3) researching things that interest you, wanting to look things up & learn about them 4) choosing appropriate books that you will enjoy reading 5) developing a lifelong love for reading… wanting to read, enjoying reading, & reading even when you don’t have to! 6) developing a lifelong love for learning, wanting to learn, enjoying learning 7) memorizing the basic addition & multiplication facts 8) developing a love for your city, state, and country 9) improving your writing (organization & quantity) 10) beginning to consider possible career choices and realizing how your work in school today will help prepare you for the future!
